About us

The Leeds Initiative is the city’s local strategic partnership. Founded in 1990, we bring together the public, private, community, voluntary and faith sectors to work together to achieve success, encourage improvement, and tackle and overcome problems for the benefit of all citizens.

In 2010 we carried out a public consultation for the new Vision for Leeds. The Vision is a long-term plan for the ongoing economic, social and environmental development of the city, and reflects the ambitions and aspirations of local people. The outcomes of the consultation helped to inform the development of the new Vision for Leeds, which was published in Autumn 2011, and will have a lifeline of up to 2030.

The Leeds Initiative is responsible for driving forward the delivery of the Vision for Leeds priorities. To make this happen there are developed partnership structures in place. There is a main Leeds Initiative Board, which is supported by five high-level thematic boards. These are:

All of these boards have representatives on them from across all sectors, and they are supported by a wider network of Leeds Initiative partnerships. By working in partnership, the Leeds Initiative is able the ensure the priorities the people of Leeds set for the city are delivered effectively.

The partnership is maintained by a team of officers, who work on different agendas, and ensure that partnership working is embedded in the culture of Leeds. The team within the Leeds Initiative office are:

Martin Dean, head of the Leeds Initiative.

Christine Farrar, policy director for health improvement and partnerships.

Dan Barnett, health partnerships manager

Rachael Loftus, programme manager leading on the harmonious communities agenda.

Dinah Clark, programme manager leading on the sustainable economy and culture agenda.

Sally Wimsett, programme manager leading on the climate change agenda, as well as leading on the development of the new Vision for Leeds.

Pat Fairfax, community issues co-ordinator, driving forward partnership working at a community level.

Beth Logan, neighbourhood services co-ordinator, leading on partnership working at a neighbourhood level.

Sarn Warbis, service development officer, co-ordinating partnership working at a neighbourhood level.

The team is further supported by an admin team, who are:
